Counting the days…

My second children’s picture book, “Counting, Counting, 1 Through 12”, is coming into the home stretch.

My son (who is 3) loves to count and I really wanted to have this one as my second book before he was too old to find it interesting. He really enjoys his other counting books and will write out his numbers from one to twenty or more.  Most days we’ll find him counting his toys, finger and toes, or whatever is lying around.  It’s so much fun to watch him grow!

Right now I’m working on finishing up the artwork on “Counting, Counting, 1 Through 12” and then it’s on to the formatting and editing of the book.  I use Kindle’s Kid’s Book Creator.  I find it to be a good resource but….  Maybe it’s my computer (which is about seven years old now – apple actually classifies it as ‘vintage’), but the program really performs sluggishly and is prone to crashing when I have a lot going on.  We’ll see how it goes the second time around.  Maybe I’ll have less problems now that I’ve been through it previously.  I’ll let you know.

I also want to offer my second book as permanently free.  In order to do that, I will have to offer it free on a second platform.  I’ll probably do so on IBooks.  They have a similar book creator that I’ve glanced at recently.  The thing I do enjoy about these programs is the ability to allow a reader to enlarge the text. What I will do then is to first offer the book for free on IBooks.  After that, I can tell Amazon that it is offered elsewhere for free and then they will price-match it.  Then it will be perma-free!

And if you are wondering, even though it will be free, I will still be adding a link to some free goodies.  More than likely I will do this for all of my books.

Okay, back to the old drawing board (wacom art tablet).  I’ll keep you all posted.

Have a great day!
